Richard Whiteley
Richard Whiteley endeared himself to millions as the charismatic presenter of Channel 4's longest running hit "Countdown".
Richard Whitely sadly died in June 2005 and "Countdown" was never to be the same again, with falling viewing figures. He had often joked that the papers would report 'Ferret Man Dies' after an hilarious epsiode of him being bitten on live TV.

But there was much more to say about Richard Whiteley's career. Richard made a record ten thousand plus appearances on television, as anchorman for Yorkshire Television's daily news magazine "Calendar" for 27 years, as YTV's political editor, and as presenter of numerous other chat shows and documentaries. He appeared on "Mrs Merton", "Have I Got news for You", "TFI Friday", "Blankety Blank", "This is Your Life" and "Songs of Praise". His Gotcha was regarded by Noel Edmonds as the most hilarious ever. Richard has vast experience of live presentations and chairing television debates. Regarded by many politicians and business people as a well informed, likeable, but incisive interviewer. He interviewed every Prime minister since Harold MacMillan.
His hobbies included walking, looking at views from the windows of country pubs and horseracing. He held the Honorary position of Mayor of Wetwang.
