bob monkhouse comedian wipeout host

Bob Monkhouse

Bob Monkhouse is one of British television's most prolific performers, indelibly etched on the minds of the public as the smooth, wise-cracking host of countless game shows. Initially a stand-up comic, Monkhouse's early years were spent writing gags for himself and other performers.

Monkhouse remains a difficult comic to classify. He has invariably aroused strong emotions in the public, and has often been someone they love to hate, largely because of his oily television manner.

His TV career spanned over 40 years, and 30 as a top name on the bill. He was diagnosed with prostrate cancer which finally killed him in 2003. Marvellously he decided to head up a fund raising campaign to help raise awareness of the cancer and fight the desease, even in those last days his ascorbic brilliant sense of humour beams through as you can see for yourself when you visit the

Bob Monkhouse Book: "Over the Limit: My Secret Diaries"

Bob Monkhouse has been in show business for over 45 years and is one of Britain's most enduring comedians. This second volume of his memoirs combines personal disclosures with anecdotes and revelations about the stars he has known is a great read.

He is a fabulous story-teller, and this book is no exception to that rule.
